First thought of the day, if you decide to sleep in do not go on social media before journaling. It is a time suck. I just lost 1.5 hours that I will never get back. If I would have stuck to watercolor, or craft content that would have been okay. Did I though? Nope, went straight to what makes a person do the things that they do, funny antidotes for life, a man that acts out Hallmark movies for his wife, Yaakov Andrew Cohen telling stories, a little Scottish boy shopping with his sister, the whole world talking about Taylor Swift, Russell Brand explaining divination and healing, and then I found one of my favorite gardeners in England, Charles Dowding (whom I own all of his books) intentionally preparing no dig beds for late winter and early spring, which made me feel immediately that I am so behind in my gardening for the year, already.
Now I am exhausted and I need a nap. So here are my thoughts for the day. Do not deviate from your morning routine even if you sleep in. I mean it, do not do it. It is your morning routine for a reason, it keeps you on course, grounded and it is healing.
So let me tell you what I just did. I ran upstairs, I jumped back in my bed (well, I did not actually jump, I am 61 and the bed is an antique), I pull the covers over my head, I took 3 deep breaths, and calmed my mind. I pulled back the covers and stretched, and I started my day again. Did my whole routine, in short order, now I am in front of my computer and I am typing away. My candle is burning, my little light is on(this little light of mine) and I am no longer scrolling the world of insanity but I am calmer, and grounded.
Everything can be better with a reset. My friend Michael O’Brien created an app called Pause Breathe Reflect that you can download from your wherever you get your apps, that really helps me when I just need a minute or two or ten. Check it out and let me know what you think.
